What the visit does
Both products are a form of botulinum toxin type A. A small amount is placed in the muscle so it contracts less. The lines look softer, and they are less likely to carve deeper while the product is working. Your expressions stay yours. The dose is small, and a licensed provider chooses it.
Where it can go
Common places are the forehead, the frown lines between the brows, and the lines at the outer eyes. It can also soften lines around the nose, bands on the neck, and a smile that shows a lot of gum. A lip flip uses about 4 to 6 units in the upper lip so a little more of the lip shows, without adding filler.
Botox and Dysport
They work the same way and are made by different companies. Botox tends to cost more per unit and usually needs fewer units. Softening often shows in about five days. Dysport tends to cost less per unit and usually needs more units. You may see softening in two to three days, with the full look between ten and fourteen days. Your provider picks the one that fits the area and the unit count you approve.
How long it lasts
Most results last three to four months, sometimes longer when you stay on a regular schedule. A lip flip is often two to five months. When it wears off, the muscle moves again and lines can return at their usual pace. You can stop at any time.
The appointment
A consult covers the look you want, your history, and the muscles in the face. Treatment is usually three to five placements with a very fine needle and takes about twenty minutes. Most people go back to their day. Skip lying down for a few hours afterward. Mild tenderness, swelling, or a bruise can show up and then fade.
